About the role

The Essity Manufacturing Professional Hygiene North America Converting Team is currently searching for Converting Operators. This role will be based out of our Harrodsburg, KY facility.

The Converting Operator is responsible for operating a production line for Towel or Tissue products. Manufacturing products according to fixed specifications and standard operating procedures. As member of the converting team, the skilled operator will be responsible for the performance, safety and quality aspects of their work area.

What You Will Do

  • Work within Essity safety standards with an emphasis on keeping coworkers and yourself safe in everything you do by following all safety rules and guidelines as established by company policy and various safety training programs. Understand and communicate all hazards and safety issues to appropriate personnel. Must properly use all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

  • Ensure that assigned machine is kept running and is producing quality products.

  • Recognize defect and quality issues and secure the required quality level of the final products by regularly checking the product produced and making necessary adjustments to correct problems.

  • Lead changeovers and other technical activities as needed.

  • Order, prepare and install raw materials on the machine according to Standard Operating Procedures.

  • Maintain an adequate communication flow with previous shift and post shift workers regarding performance of machine.

  • Maintain optimal housekeeping in the assigned work area during shift and shift transitions by using the appropriate equipment to clean off machine and dispose of debris in hoppers.

  • Complete all required documentation and data files needed for tracking purposes.

  • Utilize Levels Program to increase technical skills and knowledge as part of the normal job progression.

Who You Are

  • HS Diploma or GED

  • Must Be 18 years old or older.

  • Must be able to pass a background check and drug test

  • Previous manufacturing experience - preferred

  • 12 hour rotating shift schedule, alternating between day shift and night shift at 2-week intervals. Ability to work a rotating or "swing shift" schedule is mandatory.

  • Operators are responsible for continuously monitoring and maintaining quality based on established standards by visual and mechanical inspection of product, as well as working in a safe manner at all times.

  • This role requires frequent walking or standing, the ability to occasional bending or kneeling, lifting up to 50 lbs., and pushing/pulling.

  • Must be able to safely move materials utilizing proper equipment which may include a forklift, crane, or hoist.

  • Must be familiar with various hand tools and be able to read a tape measure down to the sixteenth of an inch.

  • Must have basic computer skills

  • Must possess a high degree of attention to detail and be able to work in a fast paced, high quality manufacturing environment. Must be ready to work in a challenging environment, may be subjected to swings in temperature as manufacturing areas are not air conditioned.

Compensation and Benefits:

Starting pay: $20.60 per hour and full benefits.
